Our DOD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Advanced Electrical Engineer position that just opened in Manassas, VA. In this role you’ll become an integral member of the engineering team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics the Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) system. To be considered, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related plus a minimum of 5 years of experience.

Contract: 12-24 months with possibility of going direct/permanent
Pay: $58.29/hour
Telecommute: Hybrid
Overview:
Seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of technical experience to become an integral member of the engineering team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics the Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze and design AC-DC and DC-DC power systems and power control
- Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware
- Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems
- Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions to design hardware and electronics based on commercial and industry components and technologies
- Design cable assemblies
- Develop new electronics in the form of PCB designs and corresponding tests
- Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer
- Generate design and interface documentation
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master’s degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
- Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation, and test phases
- Experience with MIL-STD-1399 and MIL-STD-461 design and qualification
- Experience with design and debug of switch mode DC-DC converters including knowledge of control loop stability analysis
- Experience with design and debug of 3-phase AC-DC conversion including transformer design
- Working knowledge of common communication interfaces such as RS-422, RS-485, and LVDS
- Experience in analog and digital circuit design
- Experience with lab equipment including signal generators, high speed oscilloscopes, power analyzers
- Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including: creation of high-level functional diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry, and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc.
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- OrCAD Capture experience a plus
- Experience with firmware or microcontrollers a plus
- Experience with VHDL/Verilog a plus
