Location: Portland, OR 97239
Position: PAS Specialist 
Pay Rate: $23.50/hr 
Duration: 13 weeks
Expected Shift: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, 40hrs/week
 
 JOB SUMMARY
Onsite
 
Works at clinic reception area of Neurology at the Hatfield Research Center and be back to Tanasbourne Sleep Center. Serves as first point of face-to-face contact for patient and families to finalize and validate patient demographics and insurance information. Schedules follow up appointments and diagnostic tests.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
 
1. Point of Service Operations
a. Greet Patients and completes check-in/out process
b. Verify insurance coverage and demographics
c. Identify and collect co-payments, pre-pay, coinsurance and unmet deductibles.
d. Provide receipts and complete necessary accounting procedures
e. Explain, obtain and document any necessary patient signature requirements.
f. Prepare required paperwork for clinicians.
g. Schedule Return Visits
 
2. Clinic Support
a. Triages and accurately documents telephones calls from patients, providers and other Neurology clinic support staff.
b. Relays information in a timely manner to the appropriate individual.
c. Creates and disseminates required documents, information packets.
d. Interacts professionally with patients, providers and other staff in a timely and courteous manner.
e. Assists with scheduling of new patients and return phone calls as required.
 
 
Experience:
Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact OR one year of work experience in a high-volume direct public contact position (Note: Successful completion of a formal OHSU Administrative Internship Program will substitute for one year of experience).
 
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):
• Cash handing/ reconciliation
• Customer Service
• Strong Written/ Verbal communication with diplomacy, efficiency
• Ability to work independently
• Proficient in OHSU Network Applications.
• Experience in use of multi-lined phone systems
• Proven Record of Reliable Attendance, Punctuality, and successful performance with past and present employers.
