Advanced Cloud DevOps and Platform Engineer
Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Advanced Cloud DevOps & Platform Engineer position that just opened in Scottsdale, AZ. In this role, you will support successful implementation of a PaaS in the Cloud through architecture guidance, best practices, data migration, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and more. To be considered, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or related plus a minimum of 5 years of experience.

Contract: 24 months with possibility of going direct/permanent
Pay: $66.69/hour
Telecommute: Hybrid
Responsibilities:
As an Advanced Cloud DevOps and Platform Engineer, you will:
- Develop, evolve, and maintain CI/CD pipelines: Automating integration and deployment processes to ensure smooth and frequent releases by project teams (ie. GitLab CI).
- Infrastructure management: Automating and managing the infrastructure provisioning and configuration to support scalability and reliability (ie. Terraform, Ansible).
- Ensuring security integration: Implementing security automated measures at every stage of the software development lifecycle to prevent vulnerabilities.
- Collaboration: Working closely with development, operations, and security teams to foster a culture of shared responsibility.
- Scripting and coding: Writing scripts and code to automate processes and integrate various systems and tools (ie. Python, Terraform ,Ansible).
- Continuous improvement: Continuously looking for ways to improve processes, tooling, and the overall system performance and security.
- Driving cloud solutions to realize benefits: Leverage cloud (ie. AWS/Azure GovCloud) for increased workflow efficiencies and realized scalable virtualized test environments. (ie. digital twins)
- Together with the MUOS Tools and CSEL development teams, you will support successful implementation of a PaaS in the Cloud through architecture guidance, best practices, data migration, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and more.
Candidates should have demonstrated strengths and experience in some of the following areas:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.
- Experience working with, or are familiar with the differences between, public (AWS, Azure), private (RHOSP, VIO), and mixed cloud environments
- Container technologies such as Docker, or Kubernetes
- Deployment of continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies such as GitLab, Jenkins, Puppet, or Chef
- Experience maintaining production-grade applications in virtualized environments (cloud computing platforms and services) using automation
- Creation of pipelines, Ansible Playbooks, and/or Terraform configurations to automate administrative actions from resource creation to service configuration
- Effective communication and attention to detail
Other beneficial experience:
- IT security practices including encryption, certificates, key management, patch management, STIG, RMF, or security hardening, and auditing
- Installation of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) technologies such as Amazon Web Services, OpenStack, RHOSP, or VIO
- Management of Cloud Resources in Amazon Web Services, and/or Azure
- Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies such as Kubernetes, Rancher, or OpenShift
- Cloud automation tooling such as Ansible, Terraform, Terragrunt, or Packer
- Open source server, messaging, load balancing, and database software (such as RabbitMQ, Redis, Elasticsearch)
- Scalable networking technologies such as Load Balancers (NGINX)/Firewalls and web standards (REST APIs, web security mechanisms)
