An aerospace client is looking for a CNC Machinist to sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours.
 
Location: Palmdale, CA 93550 (On-site)
Position: CNC Machinist
Pay Rate: $55.54/hr. – $61.98/hr. on W2 (DOE)
Duration: 12 months or longer
Schedule: 4×10 (M-Th) – 3:00PM to 1:30AM

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours.
  • Boring compound angular holes; doing helical and spiral milling; serrating; and
    gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances.

  • Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling; plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.
  • Determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut; interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations; and measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
  • Exclude general, all-around machinists and operators who do not perform own setups or determine sequence of operations.
  • Priorities daily work load, customer communication, work quality and efficiency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 5 or more years of experience in the machining manufacturing industry.
  • CNC Machining, Master Cam, Tooling set up, Material knowledge.
  • Good communication skills, ability to operate independently and proficiently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6 or more years of experience in the machining manufacturing industry.
  • Machine Tool Technology Certificate from educational institute or military.
  • Experience in the use of various measuring instruments to include micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, comparators, or other instruments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited guidance.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, such as MS Excel, outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • 3-4 axis machining programming using Master CAM.
  • Previous experience running lathes, mills, grinders, drills and other machining equipment.
  • Experience, setting-up and machining with CNC machinery.
  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings (GD&T), Schematics.
