Tools for Success: Dropbox

Have you ever found yourself trying to attach something to an email and it won’t send because the attachment is too large? Or what about trying to send a lot of information (Pamphlets, flyers, brochures) to a client or customer? This week’s Tool for Success: Dropbox, is a free service that offers cloud storage so you can easily share your documents, videos, and photos.

For the free account, you get 2GB of storage. If you or your business needs more than 2GB, you can pay extra to receive more storage space. This is a great tool when needing to send a lot of paperwork or store content for a project. Another great way to utilize Dropbox is when you are interviewing for jobs. Upload your portfolio to Dropbox and share it with the person conducting the interview before hand. Especially if you have a bigger portfolio, trying to send it over an email can get messy. With Dropbox, you simply send them a link to give them access to the folder and they can view everything in your portfolio.

The best part about Dropbox is you can access is it anywhere. From your phone, any computer, or tablet, just sign in to your account to access your online storage.

Tools for Success: Canva

If you’ve never heard of Canva, stop what you’re doing right this instant and go to their website: www.canva.com. Canva is a design program that is easy to use and free, which is why we are making it this week’s tool for success.

Once you’ve signed up for a free account, you can create anything from posters, presentations, social media images, blog graphics and more. You no longer need to be a graphic designer to create beautiful, inspiring images. One of the easiest things to create with Canva is infographics. They provide hundreds of images, charts, and icons that you can use create a meaningful infographic.

Even if you don’t have a creative bone in you, they offer tutorials about proper color schemes, making your backgrounds pop, how to choose a font, and more.

Tools for Success: Remember The Milk

This week’s Tool for Success not only organizes your work assignments, but your personal tasks as well.  Remember The Milk is a free, easy to use task management tool that you can use either on your desktop or mobile phone.

If you were not a fan of Asana (other task management program featured as a Tool for Success) because of layout or usability, try Remember The Milk.   I emphasize the term “Task” management as oppose to project coordination. While Asana is great for teams and group projects, Remember The Milk is more for personal tasks and work assignments.

From the moment you log in and start creating tasks, you will see how easy the program is to navigate. Even go the extra step and download the app to your phone and watch your tasks sync with both your phone and desktop.

Have you tried Remember The Milk? What tool do you use to help manage your tasks?
