DESCRIPTION

An aerospace client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer who has a structural analysis background to assist in generating the structural engineering analysis package to demonstrate compliance of tooling fixtures such as assembly & lifting jigs in an aerospace fabrication environment.
Location: 
El Segundo, CA 90245 Position: Mechanical Engineer Pay Rate: $46.63/hr. on W2 Duration: 6 Months or longer Shift: 9/80, 5 am – 2:30 pm (Can be 6 am – 3:30 pm)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performance of Static and dynamic analysis in support of Major/Minor and simple to complex Tooling fixtures and structures
  • Creation of Professional reports in support of completed analysis as well as review reports of others.
  • Provide PE certification of analysis/work completed.
  • Engage with other team members in meetings, 1:1’s and others in order to provide the right solution to complex engineering problems.
  • Analysis, research and providing input on product design, or operation of product involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
  • Professional Engineering with the ability to analyze simple to complex problems via hand calculations and FEM, respectively
  • Experience with stress analysis techniques, concepts, and practices.
  • Experienced in structural analysis methods including FEMAP/NASTRAN models of metallic and composite structures.
  • Computer Aided Design Tools - Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (CAD) computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics). Able to manipulate data sets, (e.g., compare CATIA to measurement data, create stereo lithography files).
  • Engineering Drawings & Specs - Basic ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications in accordance with ASME 14.5. Basic level understanding of GD&T
  • Able to communicate with various levels of leadership, must be able to coordinate and resolve interpersonal and technical problems and must work well either in a team or independently with limited guidance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s (STEM) Degree with 5 years of experience OR Master’s (STEM) Degree with 3 years of experience in medium to large scale tooling fabrication and/or production fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing operations.
  • Professional Engineering License (preferably from California – consideration will be given if candidate is within 1 year of completing certification)
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top-Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access. (No Clearance is required to start)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with industry standard aerospace to conceptualizing designs using 3D modeling tools including NX & CATIA
  • Creating drawings for fabrication via CAD, with properly laid out views and dimensions that are in compliance with ASME Y14.1-5 standards.
  • Direct Aerospace Tooling experience
  • Experience with fabrication applying such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
  • Direct experience with Tooling mechanics and analysis relative to stress
  • Current active DOD Secret clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 5 years
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
