Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Advanced Systems Administration Specialist position that has just opened in Manassas, VA (Onsite). In this role, you will support classified, mission-critical IT systems by performing server administration, troubleshooting, patching, and lifecycle support across Linux and Windows environments. You will manage user access, maintain physical and virtual servers, and ensure compliance with DoD security standards. To be considered, you must have a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience (or Master’s plus 3 years). Active DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.

Position: Advanced Systems Administration Specialist (Contract)
Contract: 12 – 24 months with possibility of going direct
Pay: $57.69 per hour
Shift: Fist Shift / 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
The Advanced Systems Administration Specialist provides frontline technical support and administration for secure, classified IT environments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the primary technical interface for users experiencing system related issues
  • Perform systems analysis and development to maintain currency with evolving technologies
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems and enterprise software
  • Manage user access, permissions, and application support
  • Provide day-to-day administration of physical and virtual server environments
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot server hardware, virtual platforms, and network interfaces
  • Perform operating system and vendor software patching in accordance with security requirements
  • Monitor system performance using enterprise monitoring tools
  • Support classified systems while adhering to DoD security and compliance standards

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of server based operating systems
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across server OS, networking, and storage technologies
  • Experience creating and executing scripts to automate repetitive processes
  • Strong Linux administration experience, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 and 9
  • Strong Windows administration experience, including desktop and server environments
  • Experience with Active Directory, Exchange, and Windows enterprise tooling
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts, including firewalls and Cisco and Juniper switches
  • Familiarity with secure system administration practices in classified environments

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
    OR

  • Master’s degree in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Strong Linux (RHEL 8/9) and Windows administration experience
  • Experience with Active Directory and enterprise environments
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required
  • U.S. citizenship required

 

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience with Cisco and Juniper networking equipment

  • Scripting/automation experience
  • Experience supporting classified environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and multitasking skills
