Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a specialized Analog Power Design Engineer position supporting advanced undersea communication systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to mission-critical defense projects with a focus on high-performance power electronics within the aerospace and defense industry.

 

Location: McLeansville, NC (Onsite / Hybrid options available)
Position: Analog Power Design Engineer
Contract Length: 12-24 months with possibility of going direct
Pay: $58.38 per hour
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field; 5+ years of experience (or Master’s + 3 years)
Clearance Requirement: Secret Clearance Obtainable (U.S. Citizenship required)
Schedule: First Shift

In this role you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:

  • Design and develop analog and power electronics systems for advanced undersea communication platforms
  • Lead development of high-voltage DC power systems and power modules, ranging from low-power circuits to kW+ converter systems
  • Perform circuit design, simulation, analysis, validation, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Develop power system architectures, grounding strategies, and control system solutions
  • Support mixed-signal circuit design and feedback loop/control system development
  • Create and maintain technical specifications, engineering requirements, and verification documentation
  • Utilize lab equipment including:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Spectrum analyzers
    • Signal generators
    • Electrical test equipment
  • Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and failure investigations on complex power systems
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, integration, and program teams
  • Support innovation in design architecture, component selection, and system integration
  • Contribute to R&D activities supporting emerging defense technologies

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline plus 5+ years of analog/power electronics engineering experience, OR a Master’s degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities:

Power & Electrical Design:

  • Strong expertise in:
    • Analog circuit design
    • Power electronics
    • High-voltage DC power systems
    • Power conversion systems
  • Experience with multiple power topologies ranging from watts to kW+ converters
  • Knowledge of:
    • HVDC technology
    • Power transmission systems
    • Grounding strategies
    • Power architecture development

Engineering & Analysis:

  • Mixed-signal circuit design and analysis experience
  • Control systems and feedback loop design
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis capabilities
  • Experience supporting complex engineering programs and technical design efforts

Tools & Testing:

  • Expert-level proficiency with electrical CAD tools
  • Hands-on experience using:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Spectrum analyzers
    • Electrical lab equipment
  • Circuit validation, debugging, and failure analysis experience

Additional Skills:

  • Experience developing specifications, requirements, and verification procedures
  • Background supporting R&D and emerging technology programs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to lead or contribute to cross-functional engineering teams
  • Willingness to travel as needed

Clearance Requirements:

  • Secret clearance is preferred; candidates must be eligible to obtain a clearance.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within the facility, U.S. citizenship is required.
