An aerospace client is looking for a Engineering Tool to esign industrial tools, dies, gauges, drill & assembly jigs, fixtures, machine attachments and equipment, required for production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
Location: El Segundo CA 90245 (Onsite)
Position: Engineering Tool
Pay Rate: $49.1/hr on W2 (DOE)
Duration: 6 months or longer
Schedule: 9×80 A
Responsibilities:
- Develop tooling concepts and support equipment for new and existing programs
- Design tooling and equipment, including engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plans
- Work closely with Tool Designers to create and finalize drawings
- Review designs for manufacturability, fit, form, and function
- Manage tooling projects, including cost, schedule, procurement, and fabrication
- Interface with internal customers and design review teams to ensure requirements are met
- Support vendors during fabrication and inspect fabricated tooling for drawing compliance
- Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and process engineering to support program quality, delivery, and cost objectives – Support continuous improvement initiatives and proactive problem-solving Safety, Process, and Compliance
- Design safe and efficient tooling layouts and manufacturing processes
- Identify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with company and state/government standards
- Support investigations related to root cause analysis, non-conformances, and process failures
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance & special program access
- Experience with industry standard design tools including NX CAD, CATIA
- Knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication processes & machine shop practices
- Experience with drawing release criteria and related documents for: – Completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy;
- Correctness of materials and processes; Conformity to design/drafting standards (e.g. GD&T), design specifications, and practicability; Economy of fabrication, assembly, and installation.
- Knowledge and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018).
- Knowledge and application of drawing weld symbols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects, and resources.
- Technical attention to detail.
- Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
- Experience in engineering, design, and fabrication of special tooling and support equipment
- Ability to evaluate vendor capabilities for tooling and aerospace part production – Experience participating in developments project, establishing tooling SOW & design estimates.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Experience with stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA)
- Professional Engineering License
- Current active DOD Secret clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 5 years.
