Remote Microsoft 365 Cloud Administrator
Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a Microsoft 365 Cloud Administrator position that just opened as a fully 100% remote position. In this role, to be considered, provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Systems Administration, and/or related field or equivalent experience, plus 8 years of related experience or Master's degree plus 6 years of related experience.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Communications:
- Consults and collaborates with business leaders, end users, IT staff, vendors and other third parties and is involved in every phase of an application throughout its lifecycle
- Works with the application vendors to obtain in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of the vendor's planned changes, existing problems and known errors, corrective action and work around alternatives, and technical support capabilities
- Leads, plans, and executes small projects, small initiatives
- Manages high risk, high profile, tight schedule, and complex outcomes with composure
- Breaks down “barriers to progress” & motivates less experienced members of the team to action
- Customer Support:
- Responds to incident tickets, user inquiries and services requests
- Engages with the various teams to perform application health checks to ascertain application accessibility, server availability, capacity planning, monitor scheduled job, batch jobs, systems alerts, upstream/downstream feed status
- Mentors, consults and otherwise supports the adoption of the application including responding to inquiries from a variety of sources for the purpose of providing technical assistance, advice and support, training, and assisting in the proper, efficient and effective use of the application
- Understands a broad range of customer's requirements, expectations and operational imperatives for their mission success and translates those business drivers and needs into requirements and actions for continuous enrichment of the user's experience
- Application Support:
- Their responsibilities includes job automation, running batch jobs, running SQL scripts, reviewing logs, system and application monitoring, maintenance, patch management, software upgrades, file transfers, backups, incident/problem troubleshooting and support
- Performs operational support responsibilities including application maintenance, application configuration and performance tuning, account management, installation of software upgrades, user support, and systems monitoring
- Ensures that the application layer is optimally configured for seamless integration and operability with OS, database, middleware, network, Web services, and other interrelated technological components
- Analyzes and triages defects/issues, plan and manage releases and migrations in different environments.
- Monitors system alerts, system utilization thresholds, capacity utilization on servers etc.
- Monitors and enforces compliance of regulatory requirements like Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and corporate information security policies
- This included ensuring appropriate documentation for system configuration, change control, access control, and system logs
- Maintains current knowledge of vendor's plans and strategic directions for the application including: patch releases, minor version releases, major version releases, end-of-life support, new capability enhancements, and upgrade support capabilities
- Follows industry trends, evaluate vendor products and pursue technology innovation to ensure business services are cost competitive and aligned to industry best practices
- Performs other duties as directed
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Manage user identities and credentials, including setting up and administering user accounts, groups, and permissions within the Office 365 environment.
- Configure and maintain mailboxes, including email forwarding, shared mailboxes, and email security settings to ensure secure and efficient email communication.
- Implement and manage Office 365 compliance features, including data loss prevention (DLP), eDiscovery, and retention policies to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Administer SharePoint Online, including site creation, configuration, and management, to facilitate collaboration and document management across the organization.
- Oversee the deployment and management of Microsoft Teams, including team creation, policy configuration, and integration with other Office 365 services to enhance internal communication and collaboration.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Office 365 services and connectivity issues, using tools like the Microsoft 365 admin center and PowerShell scripts to ensure optimal performance and user satisfaction.
- Manage the Office 365 deployment, including software updates, version control, and user installation options to ensure that users have access to the latest productivity tools.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for the integration of third-party services and applications with the Office 365 environment, ensuring seamless interoperability and enhancing the platform’s capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience supporting critical application software (local, network installed and SaaS) to include medium to complex troubleshooting, research, ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, and maintain procedural documentation
- Intermediate knowledge on server architecture and understanding of virtualization technologies, storage systems, enterprise security practices, and replication technologies
- Evidence of ability to act independently on large and unique tasks and wide-ranging initiatives using a subject matter expertise of the Application or System Admin discipline
- Intermediate understanding of the Internet and its key configuration components (e.g. DNS, http, IP addressing, Subnetting), and different methods of file transfer (e.g., FTP, SFTP, FTPS, NDM)
- Has ability to evaluate intangibles in the analysis of significant and unique initiatives, situations, alternatives, proposals, designs, architectures, risks, data, systems, and constructs
- Intermediate understanding of solutions development methodologies (e.g. DevOps, Agile, Software Development Lifecycle, etc.)
- Current application administrator or other related technical certification indicating a degree of appropriate foundational knowledge is strongly preferred
- Experience as a developer, systems integrator, systems engineer, solutions architect, or similar, strongly preferred
- Knowledge of development languages, platforms, and tools preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL scripts and other scripting languages, and experience with batch automation and automation tools
- Solid organizational skills including: superior ability to lead initiatives and cross functional projects; a facility to handle multiple tasks and deliverables simultaneously; a track record of exercising independent judgment appropriately; and the ability to quickly understand and execute complex assignments when working on high profile outcomes with inherent risk
- Excellent presentation, oral/written communication, and inter-personal skills including the ability to: anticipate, influence & adapt to a wide range of audiences; cultivate relationships and leverage organizational understanding to facilitate decision making and buy-in
- Solid experience developing solutions to extremely complex, cross-domain, problems requiring significant business acumen, technical knowledge, ingenuity, creativity, and innovation
- A history that illustrates flexibility and adaptability to changing business needs and shows the ability to recognize need for change
- Excellent track record of being capable of working with significant uncertainty, resistance, barriers, issues and challenges; converting uncertainty into quantifiable impact, risk and mitigating actions
