A chemicals/manufacturing client is looking for a Production Operator that will support the company’s gas cylinder filling team to fill D.O.T. #39 cylinders with compressed gases in a safe manner in order to satisfy customer expectations and to ensure the effectiveness of operation.

LOCATION: Cambridge, MD 21613
POSITION: Production Operator
CONTRACT: 3 months or longer
PAY RATE: $19/hr.
SHIFT: 1st shift, M-F, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

JOB SUMMARY:

  • The primary purpose is to support our gas cylinder filling team to fill D.O.T. #39 cylinders with compressed gases in a safe manner in order to satisfy customer expectations and to ensure the effectiveness of operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Production Operator: Loads and unloads cylinder leak detection machine (Training provided). Documents work orders as required. Assists gas filling operators by removing and installing portable gas cylinders on our cylinder filling racks. Installs one way fill valves on new cylinder supplies for filling preparation.
  • Quality Assurance: Understands and implements required procedures (Standard Operating Instructions) as established in the relevant Quality Manual.
  • Safety: Works in a safe manner while handling cylinders at all times. Reports any safety concern to the supervisor / manager or management.
  • Quality Control and Maintenance: Checks each cylinder for leakage. Segregates non-conforming cylinders appropriately to ensure only good product makes it in to inventory. Reports cylinders with major defects to the supervisor / manager or management
  • Administration: Reports quantities passed and failed on both the accompanying printed paperwork as wells as our digital spreadsheet. Notes irregularities and lot numbers and inventory locations where cylinders are assigned.
  • Process Improvement: Works with his/her team as well as with cross-functional teams to continuously improve the work process.
  • House Keeping: Maintains a clean work area as well as any other area which may be assigned.

DECISION MAKING:

  • Reports any safety concerns
  • Identifies and analyses the components of a problem
  • Decides whether cylinders are in compliance with standards using leak detection machine

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Degree or GED

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The ability to lift 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
  • Employees are regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.
