An electric utility client is looking for an IT Senior Project Manager who will lead critical pre-planning and system integrator engagement activities for a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure initiative.

Location: Rosemead, CA 91770 (Remote)
***Candidate may reside outside of CA and work fully remote; however, if local to LA, Riverside, Orange, and San Bernadino Counties, onsite will be hybrid with 2 days in the office***
Position: IT Senior Project Manager
Pay Rate: $117.47/hr. – $130.14/hr. on W2
Duration: 18 months or longer
Schedule: M-F 8AM – 5PM PST

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The IT Senior Project Manager for the AMI 2.0 Program will lead critical pre-planning and system integrator engagement activities for a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure initiative.
  • This role focuses on resource planning, technical blueprinting, business process design, and vendor coordination within a complex IT environment.
  • Facilitate IT business process mapping and requirements gathering to ensure alignment with functional needs, technical delivery, and SI area of responsibility.
  • The successful candidate will develop a comprehensive resource plan based on technical scope, including roles, skillsets, and effort and cost estimates across workstreams (integration, data, infrastructure, and testing).
  • Will support the development and refinement of a high-level solution blueprint that defines scope, schedule, and budget from a technical lens — integrating infrastructure, data flows, and system interfaces to inform delivery planning.
  • Plan and coordinate the Planning & Analyze phases, including solution design validation, technical feasibility reviews, and preparation for Build phase activities including, e.g., environment readiness, development sequencing, testing strategy, and deployment rollout.
     

QUALIFICATIONS:        

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience managing large IT programs, resource planning, solution blueprinting, implementation planning, and overall end-to-end delivery management.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Familiarity with AMI, smart grid, or large Electric Utility technology and infrastructure projects.
     

  • Strong blend of business insight and technical proficiency to bridge the gap between stakeholder needs and technological solutions.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, computer science, or other business-related discipline (including liberal arts majors).
  • Experience with utility technology needs, including strategic objectives and areas of investment focus.
  • Experience delivering/developing technical information to a non-technical audience as well as to senior leadership.
  • Experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning or strategy/management consulting.
