Duration: 13 weeks
Expected Shift: 40 hrs/week
9pm to 7:30am
JOB SUMMARY

Shifts: 4x10s NIGHTS Shifts are every two hoursREQUIRED: Knowledge of EMS systems or medical terminology.
2–3 week orientation period.
Candidates must have prior experience and be able to step into the role with minimal ramp-up time.Position Summary:
The Emergency Transport Coordinator (ETC) serves as a transfer coordinator, dispatcher, and specialty operator within the OHSU/DCH Emergency Communication Center (ECC). This role supports emergency operations and Mission Control by managing calls from regional healthcare providers and facilitating connections with OHSU/DCH physician staff for transfers, direct admissions, and emergency activations.Job Responsibilities:
Patient Transfer Coordination (50%)
Manage incoming transfer requests, initiate EPIC intake, conduct triage, connect referring providers with OHSU physicians, and document key information. Collaborate with bed flow managers and clinical teams to secure placement.PANDA Team Dispatch
Coordinate air and ground transport for the Pediatric and Neonatal Doernbecher Ambulance team, track movements, and activate emergency protocols as needed.Emergency Department Call Management (15%)
Answer and triage calls to the ED, manage page requests, and coordinate emergency team activations.Stat Line Response (5%)
Handle urgent calls including POLST registry and Rapid Response Team lines.EMS and Radio Channel Support
Monitor and document ambulance reports via OHSU, trauma, MRH, and MCI radio channels. Disseminate patient information and activate specialty teams. Manage Area Zone Management (AZM) during mass casualty incidents.Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or EMS dispatcher training preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience in EMS dispatch, hospital transfer center, or patient placement; or 2 years in Patient Access Services.
Strong verbal communication and multitasking skills.
Ability to work in high-acuity, fast-paced environments.
Typing speed of 50 WPM.
Familiarity with multi-line phone systems and high call volumes.Working Conditions
Shift work including weekends and holidays.
Scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
Extended periods at a workstation (sitting or standing).
Must be able to hear and respond to verbal communication quickly.
