Traffic Modeling System Engineer for Missile Tracking
Our DoD/Aerospace client is hiring 4 Traffic Modeling System Engineers (Missile Tracking) to support U.S. Space Force programs in Scottsdale, AZ (Hybrid/Onsite). This role supports the Space Development Agency (SDA) Ground, Management, and Integration (GMI) program, focusing on satellite-to-ground communications modeling for missile tracking missions.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience (or Master’s + 6 years), along with deep expertise in satellite communications and traffic modeling. An active DoD Top Secret clearance is required at time of hire. U.S. citizenship is required.
Location: Scottsdale, AZ (Hybrid – minimum 3 days onsite)
Position: Traffic Modeling System Engineer – Missile Tracking (Contract)
Contract Duration: 12 – 24 months with possibility of going direct
Pay Rate: $92.98/ hour
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform systems engineering activities, including decomposing requirements into traffic data flow models from satellite constellations to ground networks
- Design and support preplanned and ad hoc scheduling of satellite services for missile tracking missions
- Analyze missile tracking data to validate traffic and communications models
- Support system evolution, integration, testing, maintenance, and site operations for ground mission systems
- Collaborate across engineering, integration, and operations teams to ensure mission performance and system reliability
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s in Systems Engineering or related STEM field

8+ years relevant experience (or Master’s + 6 years)

15+ years experience modeling communication data flows

10+ years satellite-to-ground RF communications experience

Experience with packet prioritization, routing, and traffic analysis

Active DoD Top Secret clearance required

Security Clearance Requirements
- Department of Defense Top Secret clearance is required at time of hire
- Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within secure facilities
Required Technical Skills
- 15+ years of recent experience modeling communication data flows, preferably involving satellite constellations and ground networks
- 10+ years of recent experience with satellite to ground RF communications, including:
- End to end packet prioritization and routing
- Traffic modeling and analysis
NICE TO HAVE:
- Recent experience with missile tracking system design and architecture
- Experience with sensor fusion techniques
- Experience designing logic and scheduling satellite services to support missile tracking missions
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment
- Experience with image processing, including data collection, handling, storage, and analysis
Workplace Options
This position requires a minimum of three days onsite and may be fully onsite based on program needs.
When onsite, you will be part of the SDA team located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
