Our DoD/Aerospace client is seeking a Linux Administrator with AWS Skills in Scottsdale, AZ (Hybrid). In this role, you will manage Linux servers, ServiceNow MID servers, and AWS cloud infrastructure to support mission-critical Space Force environments. You will ensure secure, reliable, and compliant operations, automate deployments, and collaborate with network and cybersecurity teams.

To be considered, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or related STEM field (or equivalent experience), 3+ years of Linux administration, 2+ years of AWS experience, and an active Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Location: Scottsdale, AZ (Hybrid)
Position: Linux Administrator with AWS Skills (Contract)
Contract: 12 – 24 months with possibility of going direct
Pay: $73.51 per hour
Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain ServiceNow MID servers on Linux platforms to support Discovery and future integration operations
  • Administer Linux server infrastructure including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, and Ubuntu systems
  • Configure, manage, and maintain AWS infrastructure components, including:
    • EC2 instances
    • RDS databases
    • VPCs and subnet architecture
    • Security groups and network controls
  • Implement system hardening, patching, and security configurations aligned with federal security standards (STIGs, CIS Benchmarks)
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; troubleshoot Linux-level issues impacting ServiceNow operations
  • Automate deployment, configuration, and infrastructure management using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation
  • Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for MID servers and supporting infrastructure
  • Coordinate with network and cybersecurity teams to support firewall rules, routing, and enclave connectivity requirements
  • Maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and configuration management records

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline
    • OR 5+ years of relevant job-related experience
    • OR Master’s degree plus 3+ years of job-related experience
  • Agile development or operational experience preferred
  • 3+ years of Linux system administration experience in enterprise or DoD environments
  • 2+ years of hands-on AWS experience, including EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages
  • Understanding of secure cloud architectures and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA)

 

Preferred Certifications

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent Linux certification
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS SysOps Administrator

 

Clearance Requirements

  • Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance required at time of hire
  • Ability to maintain and re-qualify for clearance eligibility as required
  • U.S. citizenship required due to the nature of classified work performed

 

Workplace Options

  • Minimum of three days on-site per week, with the option for full-time on-site
  • On-site work will be performed with the SDA team in Scottsdale, Arizona
 

Work Schedule and Benefits

  • Flexible work schedule with the option for a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), if desired
