Senior Manufacturing Planning Specialist
Our DoD/Aerospace client is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Planning Specialist to join their team in Scottsdale, AZ. This pivotal role involves representing the production and material planning functions on concurrent engineering teams, supporting advanced defense manufacturing programs. You will be responsible for production scheduling, material structure creation, BOM management, forecasting, and leading process flow improvement initiatives.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to mission-critical aerospace and defense technologies, collaborating closely with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to enhance production readiness and optimize material flow.

Position: Senior Manufacturing Planning Specialist
Contract Length: 12-24 months with possibility of going direct
Pay: $38.44 per hour
Schedule: First Shift
Clearance Requirement: U.S. citizenship is required; applicants must meet eligibility for a U.S. Government security investigation. Security clearance is not required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Represent production and material planning on engineering and cross-functional program teams
- Compile, manage, and monitor monthly production schedules, build plans, and material availability timelines
- Create and maintain complex BOMs, material structures, and part relationships within planning tools
- Prepare labor and material forecasts, estimates, and program planning data
- Support proposal development, including labor and material estimating
- Identify workflow inefficiencies, process bottlenecks, and material flow improvement opportunities
- Implement process enhancements to improve schedule performance and production readiness
- Interface with supply chain, procurement, and external suppliers to resolve delivery and supply issues
- Support material status reviews, shortage mitigation, and raise production risk visibility
- Contribute to cost, schedule, and earned value management discussions supporting defense manufacturing programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combined education and relevant experience plus a minimum of 2 years in manufacturing planning, material planning, MRP, or production control, OR a Master’s degree
- Strong understanding of bill of material (BOM) concepts, methodologies, and product structures
- Experience with material planning tools such as MRP, ERP, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems
- Proven ability to create and maintain complex material structures and part relationships
- Knowledge of proposal support, labor estimating, and material cost estimating
- Solid understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, and build readiness
- Experience working with manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and supplier coordination
- Familiarity with earned value management (EVM), product costing, and schedule performance metrics
- Analytical skills to identify workflow and process improvements
- Ability to mentor and develop junior team members
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

- Ability to thrive in fast-paced aerospace and defense manufacturing environments
