Android OS (Android Open Source Project) Embedded Software Engineer
Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a position for an Embedded Software Engineer specializing in Android OS development within the aerospace and defense industry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to mission-critical cybersecurity and encryption solutions that support national security and aerospace operations.
Location: Dedham, MA (On-site)
Position: Embedded Software Engineer – Android OS (Android Open Source Project)
Contract Length: 12-24 months with possibility of going direct
Pay: $77.16 per hour
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field; 5+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree plus 3 years of experience
Clearance Requirement: U.S. citizenship required
Schedule: First Shift (with work hours scheduled between 06:00 am – 6:00 pm)
In this role, you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:
- Develop and maintain mission-critical NSA-certified cybersecurity devices using Android OS and custom hardware.
- Translate CONOPS, specifications, and requirements into robust software designs, code, and test plans.
- Lead and execute projects with minimal guidance, providing technical direction and leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement real-time, multi-threaded embedded software on Linux and Android platforms.
- Utilize model-based development tools such as Rhapsody and work with ARM virtualization extensions, hypervisors, and device drivers.
- Support long product lifecycles through maintenance, updates, and technology refreshes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive experience with Android OS development, including AOSP-based projects and Android system applications.
- Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as C++, Java, and UML.
- Experience with real-time multi-threaded embedded software, Linux, and Android OS environments.
- Familiarity with model-based development, device drivers, and build systems like Ninja/SOONG.
- Knowledge of ARM virtualization extensions, hypervisor technology, and Linux Rhapsody is a plus.
- Ability to analyze complex systems, define project scope, and execute with initiative.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, technical leadership, and the ability to convert requirements into functional software solutions.
