Advanced Space Systems Engineer
Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a highly specialized Advanced Space Systems Engineer position in Scottsdale, AZ. This role offers a 12-24 month contract with the possibility of going direct, with a pay rate of $70.04 per hour. The position is onsite with no remote or hybrid options. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field, along with 5+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience. A U.S. government security investigation is required, but no clearance is necessary for this role. The work schedule is First Shift, as specified in the Job Schedule field.
In this role, you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to develop and integrate digital signal processing algorithms for space-based systems, including hardware and software components. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, test, and validate advanced aerospace systems, ensuring they meet rigorous security and performance standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, standards, and lifecycle methodologies
- Experience with digital signal processing (DSP), RF signal analysis, and communications systems
- MATLAB experience with DSP toolboxes, statistical modeling, and simulation workflows
- Experience with Radar Processing, RF mitigation, phased array, and beamforming
- Python experience for modeling, simulation, data analysis, or automation
- Experience with SmallSats, CubeSats, and space payload development
- Background in FlatSat, hardware prototype development, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Experience with Digital Engineering, MBSE, SysML, MagicDraw, or Cameo
- Strong knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools
- Experience with Agile hardware, software, firmware, DevOps, and CI/CD workflows
- Creative problem solver with strong analytical and research-oriented engineering mindset
