Position: Staffing Coordinator
Pay Rate: $26.50/hr
Duration: 13 weeks
Expected Shift: 40 hrs/week
-5x8s (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) or 3×12 hr (7:00am–7:30pm; 7:30pm–7:00am)

-5x8s (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) or 3×12 hr (7:00–19:30; 19:30–7:00)
-No weekends
-No on-call
-Overtime is not required but may be picked up if available (dependent on staffing needs)
 
FLOATING:
-Required to sister facilities

-Any scrubs or business casual
 
CHARTING SYSTEM
-Epic (not used for charting, only to verify patient orders)
-SmartSquare scheduling system used
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-2+ years experience in healthcare operations, staffing coordination, or hospital-based roles
-Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to make real-time decisions in a fast-paced environment
-Proficiency with scheduling systems and basic computer applications
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-RN or clinical background
-Experience in staffing/resource allocation, bed management, or centralized staffing office
-Familiarity with hospital workflows and inpatient operations
-Experience with Smart Square or similar workforce management systems

-24/7 department requiring flexibility (days, nights, weekends)

-Key role supporting patient safety, throughput, and operations
 
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Resource Management Center (RMC) Staffing Coordinator is a centralized, non-clinical role responsible for real-time coordination and allocation of hospital staffing resources to ensure safe and effective patient care across inpatient units.
 
This role is critical in maintaining appropriate staffing ratios through continuous assessment of unit needs and available resources.
 
A clinical background (RN preferred) is beneficial but not required. Candidates must demonstrate strong critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-Coordinate and allocate nursing and ancillary staff across multiple inpatient units
-Conduct staffing evaluations at minimum every 4 hours, adjusting assignments based on census changes, acuity, and unit needs
-Collaborate closely with Hospital Supervisors and unit Charge Nurses to assess real-time staffing needs and operational demands
-Attend and actively participate in staffing huddles throughout the shift, where units report:
–Current census
–Available staff/resources
–Anticipated needs for the oncoming shift
-Develop and communicate staffing plans for upcoming shifts:
–Day shift confirms night shift staffing
–Night shift confirms day shift staffing
-Identify and allocate incoming resources, including nursing and ancillary care team members, based on priority and patient safety needs
-Manage incoming calls from care team members, including call-outs and schedule changes
-Respond to unit updates such as admissions, discharges, and new patient safety needs (e.g., sitter/1:1 observation requirements)
-Utilize the scheduling platform, Smart Square, to track staffing, assignments, and workforce availability
-Maintain clear, concise communication across all levels of hospital operations to ensure transparency and efficiency
