Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a Sr Advanced E-CAD Specialist position within their high-technology defense systems team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the design and development of ruggedized electronic systems for U.S. Navy programs, contributing directly to mission-critical defense and intelligence solutions. The position is based in Canonsburg, PA, with hybrid work options available.

Position: Sr Advanced E-CAD Specialist
Contract Length: 12–24 months with possibility of going direct
Pay: $71.43 per hour
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s Degree with 6+ years of experience
Schedule: First Shift

Clearance Requirement: No clearance required (U.S. citizenship required)

In this role, you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:

  • Design and develop printed wiring boards (PWBs) and circuit card assemblies.
  • Perform schematic capture, layout design, constraint management, and post-processing of designs.
  • Collaborate with Program Management, Electrical, Mechanical, and Component Engineering teams.
  • Convert legacy schematic and layout data into native design files.
  • Create and verify schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and padstacks.
  • Perform impedance modeling, transmission line analysis, and design rule checks.
  • Generate and manage design documentation including Gerber, ODB++, and related outputs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design conflicts while ensuring adherence to standards and requirements.
  • Support design reviews, reporting, and documentation updates.
  • Manage multiple concurrent design efforts and meet project timelines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with E-CAD tools such as Cadence Capture CIS and Allegro (required).
  • Experience with tools such as Altium, Xpedition, CAM350, Valor, Polar Si9000, and Zplanner.
  • Strong understanding of PCB design standards (IPC, J-STD, Mil-Spec, ASME, ESD, UL, RoHS).
  • Knowledge of circuit design topologies including analog, digital, RF, high-speed, and power systems.
  • Familiarity with communication interfaces (Ethernet, PCI, VPX, DDR, RS485, SATA, USB, I2C).
  • Experience with fabrication and assembly processes, materials, and tolerances.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
