Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a Traffic Modeling Engineer – Space Force position within their high-technology defense systems team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support Space Development Agency (SDA) programs by modeling and analyzing satellite-to-ground data flows for missile tracking and mission operations within advanced space architectures. The position is primarily based in Scottsdale, AZ, with additional location flexibility and hybrid work options available.

Location: Scottsdale, AZ (On-site/Hybrid available)
Additional locations: Huntsville, AL; Grand Forks, ND; Chantilly, VA
Position: Traffic Modeling Engineer – Space Force
Contract Length: 12–24 months with possibility of going direct
Pay: $59.16 per hour
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or related STEM field with 2+ years of experience OR Master’s Degree with 6+ months of experience
Schedule: First Shift

Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance required (U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain TS/SCI with Polygraph)

In this role, you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:

  • Perform systems engineering and traffic modeling of satellite-to-ground communication data flows.
  • Decompose system requirements into network and communication models.
  • Support missile tracking operations, including scheduling and satellite service coordination.
  • Analyze tracking and network data to validate and optimize traffic models.
  • Contribute to system integration, testing, and deployment of ground-based systems.
  • Support infrastructure, operations centers, and network performance analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on development and maintenance efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation for modeling improvements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in systems engineering and data modeling environments.
  • Understanding of traffic modeling for communication networks or satellite systems.
  • Knowledge of satellite-to-ground RF communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with packet routing, prioritization, and network traffic analysis.
  • Understanding of end-to-end communication systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Strong communication skills for technical discussions and reporting.

Preferred:

  • Experience with missile tracking systems or defense-related programs.
  • Background in space or aerospace systems engineering.
  • Experience with network traffic modeling and data flow optimization.
  • Familiarity with mission-critical or DoD environments.
