Traffic Modeling Engineer – Space Force
Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a Senior Traffic Modeling Engineer – Space Force position within their high-technology defense systems team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support Space Development Agency (SDA) programs by modeling and optimizing data flow between satellite constellations and ground systems to enable mission operations and missile tracking within advanced space architectures. The position is primarily based in Scottsdale, AZ, with additional location flexibility and hybrid work options available.

Position: Senior Traffic Modeling Engineer – Space Force
Contract Length: 12–24 months with possibility of going direct
Pay: $92.98 per hour
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or related STEM field with 8+ years of experience OR Master’s Degree with 6+ years of experience
Schedule: First Shift
Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance required (U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain TS/SCI with Polygraph)
In this role, you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:
- Perform advanced systems engineering and traffic modeling of satellite-to-ground communication flows.
- Decompose requirements into network architecture, system models, and data flow designs.
- Support satellite scheduling and mission operations, including missile tracking activities.
- Analyze tracking data to validate, optimize, and enhance traffic models.
- Contribute to system integration, testing, and deployment of ground systems.
- Support operations centers, infrastructure, and network performance optimization.
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams on development, integration, and sustainment efforts.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and automation for modeling, optimization, and performance improvements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong experience in systems engineering and traffic/data modeling environments.
- Expertise in communication networks or satellite system modeling.
- Knowledge of satellite-to-ground RF communication protocols.
- Familiarity with packet routing, prioritization, and end-to-end traffic analysis.
- Understanding of network performance optimization and system behavior.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills for technical discussions and reporting.
Preferred:
- Experience with missile tracking or space-based sensing systems.
- Background in space, aerospace, or defense programs.
- Experience modeling data flow between satellite constellations and ground infrastructure.
- Familiarity with mission-critical or DoD environments.
