An aerospace client is looking for a Machinist to support our client’s Machine Shop department.

Location: Goleta, CA 93117 (Onsite)
Position: Machinist
Pay Rate: $27.54/hr. – $34.41/hr. on W2 (DOE)
Duration: 12 months or longer
Schedule: 9×80 A
Shift: 1st Shift
Travel: Yes, 10% of the Time

Overview:
A Machinist to support our client’s Machine Shop department. As a member of the Machine Shop department you’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside fellow machinists, design engineers, and quality inspectors. This position will serve on-site at the machine shop in Goleta or Oxnard California.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup
  • uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining
  • Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.
  • Some machines may be numerically controlled.
  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications (English)
  • Able to lift or move a minimum of 35 -50 lbs. for up to 12 hours per day; pushing or pulling 35 -50+ lbs. occasionally throughout the workday
  • Able to read work instructions and use basic power hand tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 4+ years’ experience on 3 Axis CNC machines, 4 and 5 Axis is a plus

• Experience with Fanuc and HAAS Controllers preferred.
• Proficiency in CAM programming with Mastercam preferred.
